Pherosynthese is a Research Centre specialised in applied ethology and chemical communication, founded in November 1995 by Dr Patrick Pageat and Mr Hugues Lucas de Leyssac.

The objective of this Research Centre was to improve our understanding of domestic animal behaviour and create new tools for direct communication.

Knowing the crucial role of communication in reducing distress and aggression, we assumed that chemical communication was a specific and effective way of providing ethical solutions to the prevention and treatment of animal behaviour problems.
Pherosynthese Logo Fifteen years on, this principle is fully established and the efficacy of pheromonotherapy is recognised woldwide.

Such exciting results have been obtained thanks to a very competent research team.

The initial staff of two persons in 1995 has grown to 20 today.

Each year 4 to 6 students join us as trainees: this intellectual melting-pot made of scientists having very different skills and experiences, is probably the secret of our growth.

Funding

Pherosynthese Research Centre is a private research centre. Our philosophy is to patent the results of our research and to license the commercial companies interested in using our patents and paying royalties. Thus, the money used to fund our research is mainly the income of our previous research. Part of our funding comes from the E.U. and the French government, thanks to research funding programs.

We never sell our patents, which alows us to keep some control on the way they are used by the licensed companies. We have different clients (pharmaceutical companies) and the research centre is only owned by the founders: an effective way to keep our independence. Thanks to our management strategy, we can spend a significant part of our money on fundamental research, without taking into account if it will have, one day, a practical use.
